FESTIVAL D'OLTREMARE

category: live performance
edition: 2009

In 2009, on the initiative of Regione Campania, the Fondazione Campania dei Festival and the San Carlo Theater launched a collaborative project that garnered national and international visibility. The two institutions – which co-produced Roberto De Simone’s “Lo Vommaro a duello” for the first iteration of Napoli Teatro Festival Italia in 2008 – organized and co-produced a number of shows and other cultural events.

The Fondazione and San Carlo Theater held the Festival d’Oltremare, a summer program of opera, ballet, theater performances, and jazz, that ran from the 7th of July through to the 11th of August at Arena Flegrea of Mostra d’Oltremare. The shows included “Don Pasquale” directed by Mariano Bauduin with the artistic direction of Bruno Campanella, Brad Mehldau Trio, Ralph Towner, and Paolo Fresu, Lorca Massine “Zorba the Greek,” Dario Fo’s “Mistero buffo,” and “Madama Butterfly” directed by Fabio Sparvoli with the artistic direction of Donato Renzetti.
