Quartieri di vita 2016

«No theatre may arise where life is joyful and one is satisfied. The theatre is born where there are wounds, where there are voids... It is there that someone needs to listen to something that someone else has to say». With these words, Jacques Copeau - one of the most influential theatre men of the last century - explains how theatre fills the voids and heals wounds. Today more than ever, countless associations deal with situations of hardship through the theatre because it is a language that continues to be experienced as an instrument capable of crossing individual, cultural and racial borders. A theatre can create integration, sharing, and as Eduardo stated, «to give meaning to life».

For these reasons, during the Christmas period, the Campania Festival Foundation chose to support the workshops of some theatrical companies of Naples and the Campania Region. There have been identified thirteen structures based in neighbourhoods at risk or that work with people living in situations of economic, organisational, cultural hardship. Although with different methods and forms, these companies have succeeded over the years in using theatrical practice as an instrument of integration and relational openness. In several cases, the workshop path has even led to the training of new professionals who today work in the theatre field.
