In all languages there are words or expressions that are impossible to translate or that in the translation lose part of their semantic power almost as if at their base there was an elusive, smoky, impossible to circumscribe core.
This impossibility of translation manifests itself as a metaphorical impossibility of communication, an ideal point in which different cultures that would like to meet by grasping can only get closer. “Komorebi”, an untranslatable Japanese word, indicates the effect of sunlight when it filters through the leaves of the trees and “Komorebi” seems to draw well this feeling of “glimpsing the senses”.
Describing these untranslatable concepts using other words seems to be an unsatisfying fallback: how to carry them into the other? How can you manage to impress the feeling, the atmosphere, the mood that that unique and untranslatable word carries with it? How can words from other languages, cultures, with different stories and scents and fears be able to capture elusive senses? They cannot. The workshop, therefore, aims to transform untranslatable words and expressions belonging to the languages / cultures of the participants into images, through the use of bodies and voices. Here the theater intervenes where one word is not enough, through the power of visual and sensorial, physical, and emotional communication. And perhaps for a moment he manages to make us feel like a single community without the need for translations.
