Life infected with Social Theatre!
Quartieri di Vita, the festival of social theatre and training organized by Fondazione Campania dei Festival, with the artistic direction of Ruggero Cappuccio, reaches this year its fifth edition widening the project to Europe. By using Quartieri di Vita as a tool, the Foundation enters in the suburbs through the local associations which operate as cultural strongholds in difficult environments. Carried out during the Christmas period, the Festival seeks to give to attendees new opportunities for experimentation and research, using theatre, music, dance and art workshops. The aim of the project is to explore new cultural and individual boundaries in the name of social inclusiveness.
The 2021 edition will be international under the name Quartieri di Vita, Life infected with Social Theatre! It is organized in partnership with EUNIC - European Union National Institutes for Culture. The purpose is to give to seven theatre groups working in difficult social contexts the opportunity to confront themselves with 7 internationally renowned directors coming from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Lithuania and Spain. The foreign artists who will join the project are: Florian Bösel, Jana Svobodova, Ramzi Choukair, Charlotte Pfeifer, Jonas Tertelis & Andrius Jevsejevas, Patricia Ruz, Axelle Verkempinck and Farbod Fathinejadfard.
The project is designed for socially vulnerable groups of Campania Region, with the idea of widening the artistic dialogue, the exchange of knowledge and good practices on social theatre. The local stakeholders involved in this QDV special edition are: Nuovo Teatro Sanità, Nest and Femminile Plurale in Naples, Magnifico Visbaal Teatro in Benevento, Alma d’arte in Avellino, Mutamenti/Teatro Civico 14 in Caserta, Derrière La Scene in Salerno. Quartieri di Vita, Life infected with social theater is a project organized by EUNIC Rome and Naples together with Fondazione Campania dei Festival.
EUNIC - European Union National Institutes of Culture - is the European network of cultural national institutes and organizations, made up of 36 members coming from all the 28 European Member States. The mission of the EUNIC cluster in Rome and Naples is to support culture as a driving force for social and sustainable economic development, promoting culture and intercultural dialogue in order to preserve peaceful intercommunity relations and strengthen cooperation in the field of cultural heritage. The cluster members who will take part in the project are : Czech Center of Rome; Austrian Cultural Forum, Rome; Representative Office of the Flemish Community and the Flanders Region; Lithuanian Cultural Institute, Rome; Goethe Institut, Naples; Instituto Cervantes of Naples; French Institute of Naples.
In December 2021, 14 days of full-time training are planned. The outcome of the workshops will be staged in seven open rehearsals and digital projects to be shown to the public.
