THE PROJECT
Target groups: women coming from Africa and Eastern Europe countries
The project gives voice to the personal stories told by ten immigrant women struggling to fit into society. Personal stories that need to be shared, re-created on stage in their mother tongue, and healed through community theatre. The two main themes – femininity and migration experience – will be explored from the perspective of a double marginal identity: a woman in a patriarchal world and a woman far from her homeland, family and mother tongue. After a brainstorming session, the workshop focused on exercises inspired by Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed and Paulo Freire’s critical pedagogy.
